SHOULD I GET AN HOME EQUITY LOAN OR SHOULD I SAVE MY MONEY AND PAY WITH CASH?
Jan 24th
Question by Wife4Life:
Should I get an home equity loan or should I save my money and pay with cash?
I own a home that will be paid off next year.
I want to do some remodeling in my home like a new kitchen, all new travertine floors, new doors and some other things.
The total of my remodeling will be about $ 45,000 including all the labor and materials.
My question is: Do I get a home equity loan for 7% to8% or do I save my extra cash and pay for the remodeling in full in about 2-3 years after I pay off my house?
If I get a home equity loan for about 5 years, I will pay almost $ 10,000 in interest alone. That’s a lot of money!
Any ideas?
P.S. I have no debt except my home loan. No credit cards, no cars, no school loans, no nothing!I have a credit score of 780 and I do not like to pay interest if I do not have to!

IF I PURCHASE A HOME IN ALL CASH WOULD I GET A MORTGAGE OR HOME EQUITY LOAN?
Jan 17th
Question by ace3408:
If I buy a home in all cash would I get a mortgage or home equity loan?
I am planning on purchasing an investment property with 100% cash. I can buy the property at 60% of market value. I then plan on pulling a loan out for 60% of the market value. Would it be considered a mortgage or a home equity loan? A mortgage currently is about 300 basis points lower than the home equity loan. I am hoping it would be considered a first mortgage because it would not be a second lien position. Thanks

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO PAY OFF A HOME LOAN IF YOU DON’T PLAN ON LIVING THERE LONG?
Jan 11th
Question by fresh princess:
What is the ideal way to pay off a home loan if you do not plan on living there long?
Say you want to purchase a $ 60,000 home, but you do not plan on living there longer than 10 years. Would it be superior to get a 30 year loan and have smaller payments, or a five or ten year loan so when you sell the home it is completly paid off?
Actually the price of the home is irrevelant. I was just wondering which option would be better.

Q&A: HOW FAR OUT CAN I APPLY FOR A HOME LOAN?
Jan 8th
Question by mama of 2:
How far out can I apply for a home loan?
My family will be moving in about 4-5 months. If I applied for a home loan now, how long would the approval amount be good for before I had to reapply? We would like to know what kind of price range we are looking at and possibly have the new home picked out so that we can close on that home as soon as our current one closes. Also, does anyone know how soon after selling your home (when the loan is closed) I should anticipate to receive the profit from doing so? We bought our home for 75,500 and can anticipate to sell for right around 90,000 and we were hoping to use the profit towards the new home (landscaping, new dishes, etc) We do not need it for a down payment because we will be getting a VA loan. Any other info that you might have as well would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks so much!!
