Q&A: IS IT A GOOD IDEA TO USE A HOME EQUITY LOAN TO PAY FOR A NEW CAR?
Apr 15th
Question by Eddie T:
Is it a good idea to use a home equity loan to pay for a new car?
Instead of taking a automobile loan, use the equity from my place to it. If I were to get a car, I would get it financed. So to me, it seems smart just to cash some equity out with the added benefit of deducting interest for tax returns.

Question by Kat:
If I get a home equity loan do I have to claim the money as capital gains if I sell it and do not purchase another?
The equity is from the gain from past homes. I need the money to pay off debt and will not be buying another home. If the money is taken out as a second mortgage but repayed late this summer when I decide to sell the home and move into another home we own, will it be subject to capital gains tax?

HOW HARD TO GET HOME EQUITY LOAN?
Apr 5th
Question by wonderer:
How hard to get home equity loan?
I recently inherited a New England farmhouse assessed at $ 400,000. The roof needs to be replaced along with plumbing, electric etc. My credit is in the low 600 range and I am not working, as I am a full time student. I am a disabled vet so I do have a set income and my wife does as well. Would it be hard for us to get a equity loan for around 160, 000 with less then good credit.
Thanks

Apr 1st
Question by toohotnky:
Is a home equity loan for a semi worth it?
My husband wants to purchase a semi. If we took out a home equity line of credit, our payment would be small. A lot smaller than financing the truck. I am not 100% comfortable with using my home for anything. Does anyone know which would be better?
