Lets state I have my parents co-sign for an auto loan I want to get. I make all my payments on time and eventually pay it off. Will it have a positive effect to my credit score even though I needed a co-signer or is only their credit affected?

When you apply for an auto loan, do you get the same answer/amount no matter where you go?
I applied at my credit union for an auto loan and they gave me an answer of X amount. If I go straight to a automobile dealer about automobile financing/loans, will they give me the same answer of X amount? That being said, is it the same everywhere or do businesses/credit unions/banks each have their own one-of-a-kind judgement?

How do I get my name off a co-signed automobile loan?
I co-signed on a automobile loan right before I separated from my husband and later divorced. He has a Ford Explorer of which he hasn’t made the payment on for the last 4 1/2 months. No one will grant him to refinance because of the defaulted payments. During the divorce it was understood in court that the Ford would be his responsibility. So how do I get the finance company to see that and not go after me for the amount due? And what if he files bankruptcy will I then be liable for the bill? HELP PLEASE it’s a lot of money.

I was told by my credit union that the person co signing (for auto loan) has to be an immediate family member or has to be living in the same household. I have never heard of this before…please help! Is this true for all banks?

My mother co-signed for a new automobile for me about a year ago and I am now plan to refinance my automobile loan in just my name.
